Iberia is setting up photovoltaic panels on its 20,000 sq m airplane engine upkeep garage at Madrid airport as part of its objective to reach absolutely no net emissions by2050

The solar field established on the roofing of the engine store, inhabits 10,000 square meters, and creates 80 million kW hours, comparable to 800 houses.

The center, integrated in collaboration with expert company Getting Greener, will utilize 5,374 solar modules to produce a peak of 2,000 KW, for an overall of approximately 2.7 million KW/h each year. Each panel produces approximately 335 watts at peak times, with a performance score of some 20%.

” The commissioning of this photovoltaic plant is the primary step in a program in which Iberia and Getting Greener are changing energy performance at the airline company’s Madrid airport garages, workshops, and workplaces. Cost savings will rapidly recuperate the 12- million euro expense on existing energy expenses,” Iberia shared in a business declaration.
