Goose Processors desires change to ready-to-cook poultry guidelines

Canada’s Northern Goose Processors Ltd. hasactually petitioned USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to change policies carryingout the Poultry Products Inspection Regulations’ proposed meaning of ready-to-cook poultry.

The 47-page submission was designated petition number 22-01 and referred to the FSIS Office of Policy and Program Development.

It calls for modifying an existing guideline for ready-to-cook poultry, significance massacre of poultry totallyfree from extending plumes from the head, feet, crop, oil gland, trachea, esophagus, entrails, and lungs are gottenridof along with fullygrown reproductive organs and kidneys. The modification to the ready-to-cook poultry policy is lookedfor by Elissa C. Norden of the Teulon, Manitoba-based Northern Goose Processors Ltd. The petition declares that “amending the meaning of ready-to-cook poultry would not sacrifice the stability of food security.”

Melissa Hammar, acting director of the FSIS policies personnel, reacted to the Northern Goose Processors petition with this description:

“The petition demands that FSIS modify 9 CFR 381.1 to modification the Ready to Cook Poultry meaning to consistof partial dressing of a carcass as licensed by the Secretary if the manufacturer reveals that there is a market for the item and that the carcass can pass a post-mortem evaluation. 

“As specified in your petition, FSIS does not acknowledge a poultry item with the head staying undamaged as a item eligible to bear the mark of assessment. Because the head stays undamaged, the item defaults to the exempt item classification. 

“The petition states that the Chinese Young Goose with Head item produced by your business satisfies the physical description of particular spiritual exempt items however that labeling the item as spiritual exempt would be incorrect and would not properly show the real item in the plan. 

“According to the petition, keeping the head undamaged by altering the 9 CFR 381.1 meaning is required to eliminate a barrier to item advancement.”
